Define the brief and retain the findings of previous investigations
Claim reference, address, on-site contact, damage observed, previous investigations and repairs: these details help define the scope and avoid repeating the same checks. Access is arranged with the occupant, property manager or building manager.
Clearly described tests, verifiable conclusions
The report links each conclusion to the observations and checks carried out. In a case involving a damp skirting board, testing the waste pipe showed no leak, while tracer dye applied to the vanity top seal revealed water passing through. The reader can understand why the seal was identified and which sections of pipework were checked.
- The circumstances of the damage, accessible areas and conditions during the visit.
- Pipework or equipment tested, the method used and the result observed.
- Photographs of the damage, tests and visible defects.
- Confirmed location, likely source or a point that still needs to be exposed.
- Access limitations, recommendations and a distinction between work completed and work recommended.
The report is scheduled within 24 hours of the visit. Any specific requirements and the intended recipient are agreed in advance.
Confirming a leak does not always mean locating the exact point
Tests can confirm a leak in a pipe system without revealing the concealed defect. By contrast, an accessible fitting can be shown and pinpointed. The report preserves this distinction rather than presenting every conclusion as a definitive location.
See the three levels of conclusion in the sample report.
Detection, repairs and insurance compensation
The investigation documents the source of the damage. A repair within our team's scope can then be quoted separately. A recommendation is not a record of completed work, and the report makes no assumption about policy cover or reimbursement decisions.
Visits are organised in Paris. The commissioning party, billing arrangements and case requirements are clarified before the visit.
Your questions before the visit
How is a test with no leak detected described?
The report states which pipework or area was tested, the test conditions and that no fault was observed during that check. It retains any access limitations or further checks required; it does not turn that result into a statement that the whole building is free of leaks.
What do I receive if the exact point is still concealed?
The evidence collected, a conclusion with its limitations, and the access or openings needed to continue. A likely source and a confirmed leak with no visible defect are distinguished from a fully located leak.
Is the recommended work included in the leak detection visit?
Recommended work is distinguished from repairs actually completed. Any proposed repair is covered by a separate quote and the approval arrangements agreed for the case. View the annotated sample report.
